Poems from Quebrada de la Virgen


I'll be posting translations of Venezuelan poets occasionally at Antología over the next few months. Today, it's versions of poems 19 and 25 from Armando Rojas Guardia's book Poemas de quebrada de la virgen (Caracas: Fundarte, 1985).

Rojas Guardia's recent poem (below) from Saturday's Papel Literario takes up an entire newspaper page, stanzas wrestling with/for prose. Alongside Benjamin's comments on allegory and Baudelaire.
