"In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"

I never listened to this album by Neutral Milk Hotel when it came out in 1998. Now I notice its powerfully shouted lyrics, moments of earnest mysticism hidden in semi-acoustic rock. I do remember hearing Julian Koster's band Miss America in Tampa in the early 1990s, on their cassette release. This album seems to define a miniature era, with its pull back to past wars. Based on a visionary premise.

Reading Guatemalan novelist Rodrigo Rey Rosa, a 1997 short novel called Que me maten si.... Rain in the early hours of the mornings turns into sun all day. Along the shore looking south at Fall River or New Bedford.
