“Dreaming is a singing of the mind...”

Went to see Sean Lennon play on Friday night at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro. In the minutes before he and his band came on, the sound system was playing David Gilmour's self-titled first solo album (1978), sounding fantastic over the speakers. It's an album I first heard in the early 90s and which I like even more since then, a great prologue to Lennon's show. His band is excellent, and includes Cibo Matto's Yuka Honda on keyboards. They played most of “Friendly Fire” (2006) and finished with the first song off “Into the Sun” (1998), which includes the verse I enjoy so much:

“Baby, I'm a lonely kind of man
Like a rapper with a 40 in his hand...”
