"We are not worlds, no, nor infinity,"

Mid-way through John Sutherland's excellent biography of Stephen Spender. Sutherland researched and wrote the book in collaboration with Spender's wife, Lady Natasha, who gave him access to their private papers. These include several excellent photographs taken by her or Spender's younger brother, Humphrey (whose anecdotes and memories of his brother are cited frequently by Sutherland).

There's one photograph of Spender and his brother, taken by Lady Natasha in 1991, sitting on a bench under the shade of a tree. Like Ghostface and Raekwon, it seems Spender was a devotee of Wallabees. Wu Tang and the 1930s forever.
